Megan Lloyd-Laney, Director CommsConsult
Megan Lloyd-Laney has been, at different stages of her career, a science journalist, a policymaker, an NGO development worker and a trainer.
Megan is now director of a private company, CommsConsult with offices in UK and Zimbabwe. Megan has always been a passionate communicator. She recently worked for three years part-time as a Communication Advisor in DFID’s Research and Evidence Division where she developed Guidelines and quality assured the strategic communication and policy influence of up to £30m global public goods research. Megan has developed protocols and guidelines to help researchers systematise their communication throughout the research cycle to maximise uptake; and has conducted numerous evaluations of the policy uptake and impact of multi-country, multi-partnership, long-term research programmes.
Megan has led teams that help policymakers such as the World Bank to understand and meet demand for information, and on improving the effectiveness of knowledge networks. She has trained more than 1000 researchers and policymakers in different aspects of ‘influencing’, and written a number of Toolkits aimed at improving people’s use of strategic communication to achieve their development objectives. Megan lived and worked for many years in both Zambia and Zimbabwe, but is now based in the UK.
